The Sierra Nevadas, the rolling landscape of the Santa Monica Mountains, the sparkling Pacific Ocean, the California community. These are the themes of my artwork that I am most passionate about.
My California roots go back four generations. I cherish and respect the unique California landscape, and the people and animals who reside here. Annual family hiking trips to the Sierra Nevadas solidified my appreciation for the granite masterpieces, towering redwoods, pines and aspens, and abundant wildflowers. Living in Southern California, I admire the golden rolling hills, bucolic oak studded landscapes and vast biodiversity. This is what I capture with my paintings. California parks and communities provide a plethora of inspiration. I long to get the spirit of the landscape, flora, and fauna with paint in plein air (outside). One can easily set up an easel in Southern California in places such as Malibu Creek State Park, Paramount Ranch, Sycamore Cove, and a limitless number of local parkland gems. The Sierra Nevada mountain range is not far. I can drive to the beautiful “Range of Light,” as John Muir put it, and interpret the landscape with my brushes. I will continue to paint and expand my boundaries for creating in California. I hope you enjoy my work. |
